Hosts Hyderabad amassed 447 in their first innings against Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy 'Elite' Group 'B' match at the Gymkhana grounds in Hyderabad on Thursday.
In reply, Tamil Nadu were 87 for 3 at close on the second day.
Earlier, resuming at 237 for 4, overnight batsmen Vinay Kumar and Ibrahim Kaleel made light of the Tamil Nadu bowling and added 40 more runs for fifth wicket before Vinay snicked a faster delivery off Gokulkrishna to miss his century by seven runs.
Vinay's 93 came after a 408-minute stay at the crease during which he faced 296 deliveries with 13 hits to the fence. Kaleel tried to accelerate the scoring and was out caught in the slips for 75 (9x4).
The Hyderabad tail-enders also made merry, with Shivaji Yadav (20), Vishnuvardhan (59), NP Singh (49) and Venkatapathy Raju (29) helping the hosts coast to 447.
For Tamil Nadu, speedsters Gokulkrishna and Tamil Kumaran took two wickets each.
Tamil Nadu started on a disastrous note. Medium pacer Vishnuvardhan dismissed openers, S Suresh (9) and K Dinesh Karthik (2) to reduce Tamil Nadu to 13 for 2.
S Sriram and S Badrinath tried to stem the rot and played with caution, picking up singles, before Fiaz trapped Badrinath leg before wicket for 14.
Sriram, playing the sheet anchor role to perfection, was on 48 and S S Viwanathan, on 11, when stumps were drawn.
