Dewang Mehta, Omar Abdullah are 'Global Leaders of Tomorrow'

The Geneva-based World Economic Forum has chosen minister of state for commerce and industry Omar Abdullah, NASSCOM president Dewang Mehta and chairman and CEO of Enron India Sanjay Bhatnagar as the 'Global Leaders of Tomorrow' for their global influence and achievements.

Television Eighteen of India managing director Raghav Bahl and Nikhil Nanda of Escorts are the other two Indians selected for the coveted position by WEF.

''Launched in 1992, the GLT initiative is a response to the evident need for a new approach to global leadership in the post cold war era,'' the Confederation of Indian Industry, an associate of WEF, said in a statement.

India already has the distinction of having 22 GLTs from different walks of life. In line with the WEF's commitment to improving the state of the world, these global leaders will be integrated into the activities of the Indian chapter of GLTs with the objective to identify and address future-oriented issues on the global agenda in a proactive, innovative and entrepreneurial ways.

The integration will take place at the meeting of the Indian chapter of the GLT forum on November 26, coinciding with the India Economic Summit organised by the World Economic Forum and CII in the national capital.
