Indian Oil restarts Kandla-Bhatinda products pipelineIndian Oil Corp said that its cross-country oil products pipeline originating from Kandla port restarted pumping after being shut for more than a week following an earthquake in Gujarat. "The Kandla-Bhatinda pipeline start pumping at 6:27 p.m. on Saturday," Subir Raha, IOC director for corporate communications, said by telephone. The 1,443-km (900-mile) pipeline, which feeds the country's northern region was shut down on January 26 because of power failure following the earthquake which ravaged Gujarat. Its annual handling capacity is 7.5 million tonnes. S N Jha, IOC director for pipelines, said a 100-km branch line connecting Reliance Petroleum Ltd's Jamnagar refinery to the Kandla-Bhatinda pipeline had been checked and found "satisfactory". "Clearance has been given to pump the products through the Vadinar-Kandla pipeline. Pumping will start tomorrow morning," Jha said. The Kandla-Bhatinda pipeline was earlier used to pump products imported at Kandla port but since end-1999 it has been used for transporting products from the 27-million tonne Jamnagar refinery.
