Congress on Wednesday dismissed allegations that it was siding with the government on the issue of the "sell-off" of Centaur Hotel in Mumbai and said the party would wait for the report of the law ministry before commenting on the matter.
Asked about the party's stand on the Opposition demand for an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the issue, Sharma said, "The party position was clarified in the House itself by two senior members, including Manmohan Singh, leader of Opposition in the Upper House."
When reminded that Divestment Minister Arun Shourie himself had accepted in the Rajya Sabha that the lease agreement was violated by concerned parties, Sharma said: "Let the report of the law ministry come and we will reply"
Asked why the party leaders did not demand CBI probe into the issue in the Upper House unlike in Lok Sabha, Sharma said he would talk to party leaders in this regard.
