Talks on to end Singur deadlock

The Governor-brokered talks between West Bengal government and Trinamool Congress-led opposition to end the Singur impasse began at the Raj Bhavan on Friday.

Industry Minister Nirupam Sen, Panchayat Minister Surya Kanta Mishra, Chief secretary Amit Kiran Deb, Home Secretary Ashok Mohan Chakraborty and Industry Secretary Sabyasachi Sen represented the government in the talks presided by Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi. Trinamool Congress leader Partha Chatterjee led a delegation of Krishijami Jiban-o-Jibika Raksha Committee, a grouping of farmers, in the talks.

Former chief justice of Bombay high court Chittatosh Mukherjee was present as the legal adviser to the Governor at the talks which began at 4:10 pm.
