In Andaz, Raj starred with Dilip Kumar. He emerged with a highly individualised set of mannerisms, overdone for striking effect, with flamboyant gestures, facial expressions and physical movements. Later, these were frozen into a highly-stylised pattern. Andaz marked the emergence of what came to be known as the "Raj Kapoor style of acting."
