'Everything is okay now'
The songs from Khauff have been on air for quite some time. But there was no sign of the film releasing. One heard all kinds of rumours -- that director Sanjay Gupta has walked out of the film, that Manisha is playing truant, shooting has been cancelled and so on.
Why has Khauff been delayed? The film was delayed since there was a problem getting a combination of dates. The film has a large supporting cast. There were times when the main cast would be present, but it was difficult to get the supporting cast. Is it true that you were going to walk out of the film? Yes, it's true. Producer Vijay Tolani was getting a little impatient and wanted to release the film in a hurry. I said if that was going to be the case, then it’s better I walk out. However, thankfully, we managed to sort things out and everything is okay now. Do you think the film will be adversely affected because of these controversies? No, I don’t think so. I can say that we have tried our best. This is not an everyday, happy movie. It is a dark film. It will do well. What is the story of Khauff? It is basically a thriller. It's based on a political event that took place three years ago, although I shall not disclose which particular event. Manisha (Koirala) plays a small-town career girl who is looking for a job. She gets involved in this horrifying event. Sanju (Sanjay Dutt) plays an underworld don. How would you rate their performances in the film? Manisha Koirala has done a fantastic job. This is a heroine-oriented film -- the heroine is the backbone of the film. I can say that Manisha has done full justice to her character. As for Sanju, he has been performing very well these days -- the same is the case with Khauff.
