'Mission Kashmir is the biggest hit of my career!'

Whatever his critics might say, producer-director Vidhu Vinod Chopra is on cloud nine these days.
"Mission Kashmir is the biggest hit of my career. And I think I need to celebrate," said Vinod Chopra, soon after his return to India from a trip abroad.
Sure, Vinod Chopra has made more money with Mission Kashmir than, perhaps, all his earlier films put together. He did sell it at whopping prices for various territories, thanks, of course, to Hrithik Roshan.
But in all fairness to Vinod Chopra, it must be said that he did not alter his script to cash in on the stardom of his hero. Rather, the man stuck to his original script.
"I had faith in my subject, so I didn't think it was proper to increase the length of Hrithik's role or give him some unrelated scenes to do," explained Vinod, who is currently working on two subjects -- Din Raat Aur Subah and Shatranj.
Both will be thrillers. But that is not why Chopra is thrilled.
The real reason for his happiness is that he has got some cheques towards overflow from his distributors. Overflow, as you know, begins after all the costs of the distributors have been recovered.
As Chopra puts it, "All my distributors will not be in a position to share overflow with me because the film has not done equally well in all the circuits. But the good news is no distributor stands to lose anything."
For a costly film like MK, this should be consolation enough.
