Kinner Acharya in Rajkot
Vankaner, once a princely, and now sleepy, town of Saurashtra is suddenly
vibrant and excitedly waiting for no less than superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
The town is agog with talks related to his stay here and his shooting schedule.
On December 18, Shah Rukh is expected to shoot a commercial for Pepsi on a railway platform of Makansar, an adjoining village.
Amita Saigal and Ajju Patel, two executives of the advertising agency, are camping in Morbi city for the final day preparation. Around 40 men are working on the sets for the last month.
For 45 seconds of air time, the hero will spend three days in Saurashtra, in Panchal Pradesh. A hilly area, on top of the tallest hillock stands a magnificent palace of a former king of Vankaner.
The Rajpalace is considered a credible copy of Laxmi Vilas Palace of Baroda. Attempts are being made to put up Shah Rukh in the Royal palace. Shah Rukh will be ferried in the area by helicopter.
The Pepsi commercial theme is also creating a stir of sorts.
The agency team member told rediff.com, "We are recreating a scene from Sholay. The famous train scene will be recreated. We are redecorating the engine and some part of the train.
"Shah Rukh will fight the bandits on the fast running train, Sholay-style. After he triumphs, he will gulp Pepsi.
Viju Khote (remeber the gun point on his head?) and Mac Mohan (Sambha) will relive the scene.
Meanwhile, the excitement of the superstar's arrival is so high that tight security has already been deployed around the railway platform.
