Sukanya Varma
Yeh Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke is a star-studded love triangle starring Madhuri Dixit, Ajay Devgan and Preity Zinta.
The icing on the cake would be some melodious music, of course.
But that's wishful thinking. For the music of YRHPK is far from melodious.
The album comprises eight tracks with music by Sanjeev Darshan (Mann, Deewane and Aashiq) and lyrics by veteran Anand Bakshi.
Jo pyaar karta hai by Manohar Shetty, Anuradha Paudwal and Kavita Krishnamurthy is a paean to love and how it leaves one crazy. The track sure does drive the listener crazy, for the wrong reasons, though.
Shaan and Jaspinder Narula could easily give Whitney Houston a run for her money with the crooning and screeching they indulge in the title song.
Yeh dil mohabbat mein by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik sounds passé. The jhankar beats playing in the background don't help matters much either.
If Halle halle is an insipid bhangratrack by Vinod Rathod and Alka Yagnik, Bam bhole, sung by the same duo, is no less. Both numbers fall in the fast forward category.
Fortunately, Mera dil ek khali kamra by Kumar Sanu and Anuradha Paudwal is a breezy love duet.
Aaja aaja is the only saving grace of the album, which happens to be composed by guest musician Adnan Sami.
Although it's no Kabhi toh nazar milao or Lift karade, a seductive sounding Asha Bhosle does wonders for this naughty number. Udit Narayan has done another version of the same song.
All in all, the music of Yeh Raaste Hain Pyaar Ke can't be slotted as good or bad. Its mediocrity only the leaves the listener feeling extremely indifferent.
