Following the success of Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai,and Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, Vashu 'Midas' Bhagnani attempts a hat trick of sorts with Deewaanapan.
This Arjun Rampal-Diya Mirza starrer is his third release this year, which once again caters to the college going junta.
Unlike other Youth-based films like Dil Chahta Hai, which was hip and happening or Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai that was mushy and sweet, the music of Deewaanapan by Aadesh Shrivastava is an all-in-one album. Bhangra, qawaali, hip-hop, rock and roll, pop music, romantic duets, you name it.
The album comprising of seven songs opens with the smooth and sultry Haan mera deewaanapan rendered effectively by Shaan and Sunidhi Chauhan. Our guess is that this track just might catch your fancy, after repeated hearings. What say?
Up next is the uninspiring Hum deewane. KK, Shaan and Hema Sardesai croon this wannabe generation X ditty. Unlike Koi kahe of Dil Chahta Hai, it lacks both spice and spirit in huge proportions.
Richa Sharma and Sukhwinder Singh sink their teeth with Kamli Kamli - a high voltage, dramatic qawaali piece which bursts with the madness and lunacy of love.
Doston naam karna hai, is your typical rock 'n' roll college number, with some buoyant vocals by KK, Shaan, Hema Sardesai and Shraddha Pandit.
A regular face in the Hindi play back scene now, Shaan is serenity personified in Main ik deewana ladka.
Satrangi aims to be exotic replete with tribal beats et al. However this raunchy track with Anuradha Sriram oozing her trademark oomph does not impress.
Last but not the least is Nach nach nach rendered by Adnan Sami, Falguni Pathak and Sukhwinder Singh. A Punjabi bhangra with a dash of pop flavor, this mish mash might actually succeed in getting one on the dance floor.
Deewanapan has nothing extraordinary to offer, yet if you are looking for an album to bid your time, this one fits the bill.
