Kanshi Ram decides not to contestBahujan Samaj Party chief Kansi Ram has decided against contesting the coming Parliamentary polls, preferring to devote himself fully to canvassing for the party. Talking to the media after addressing a rally, Kanshi Ram said he would work to get a maximum number of BSP candidates elected. However, BSP's Punjab unit general secretary Avtar Singh Karimpuri said he has requested Kanshi Ram to contest from the Hoshiarpur constituency. Kanshi Ram got elected from the seat during the last Lok Sabha poll, defeating the Congress's Kamal Chowdhry. Then, the BSP had an alliance with the Akali Dal (Badal). This time, the BSP has an electoral understanding with the Congress in the state. And Chowdhry has defected to the BJP. UNI |
