TDP announces first list of candidatesThe ruling Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh today announced the list of 21 candidates, which included four Union ministers and two film personalities for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Union Minister for Rural Areas and Employment K Erramma Naidu, Urban Affairs and Employment Minister Dr U Venkateswarlu, Minister of State for Agriculture Dr S Venugopalachari and Commerce Minister Dr B Buli Ramaiah figure in the list released by TDP President and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu prior to the launch of the United Front election campaign here later in the day. Erramma Naidu will seek re-election from Srikakulam Lok Sabha constituency, Dr U Venkateswarlu from Bapatla, Dr Venugopalachari from Adilabad and Dr B Buli Ramaiah from Eluru. Character actor K Satyanarayana will seek re-election from Machilipatnam while actress T Sharada has been re-nominated from Tenali. The party did not change the constituencies of any candidate who had contested in the 1996 Lok Sabha elections. The party's second list, for the remaining 21 seats, would be announced in a day or two, Naidu told newsmen in Hyderabad. |
