EC slaps curbs on opinion pollsFor the first time, restrictions have been placed on the publication and telecast of opinion and exit polls through the print and electronic media for elections. Chief Election Commissioner M S Gill told the media that no result of opinion polls should be published or telecast after 1700 hours on February 14 up to half an hour after the close of polling on February 28. According to the guidelines announced by him, while exit polls could be conducted, the results could not be announced until after the polling was over. UNI |
