CPI-M to contest on its ownThe Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-Tamil Manila Congress combine in Tamil Nadu received a severe jolt on Thursday when the Communist Party of India-Marxist decided to field candidates in six Lok Sabha constituencies. The decision was taken after a day-long meeting of the CPI-M secretariat in Madras, following the TMC's stubborn stand to contest all the 20 seats which it won last time. It had point blank refused to concede any of these seats to the Communist Party of India or the CPI-M. The CPI-M will put up candidates in Madras North, Coimbatore, Nagercoil, Tiruchirapalli, Madurai and Palani. UNI |
