8 feared killed in UP boat tragedy

Eight people were feared drowned today when a country boat capasized in the swollen Tons river at Dharwara Ghat under Karchana police station of Allahabad district.

District Magistrate Alok Tandon, who returned from the tragedy site, said four bodies, including two of children, had been recovered so far. He said search for the other missing persons, reportedly teachers of a college and a seven- year-old boy, was still on.

He said divers of the Provincial Armed Constabulary had been engaged in the search work.

Tandon said when the tragedy took place there were 26 people aboard the ill-fated boat.
