People in multi-storeyed buildings ran out in panic after a tremor of moderate intensity shook parts of Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, on Sunday afternoon.

There was no report of any damage to life or property, police said.

The tremor was felt at 1400 hours.

There was panic in the Vastrapur and Satellite areas of the city that had been among the worst-hit in the January 26 temblor.

Ealier, an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter Scale shook Mizoram, Meghalaya and neighbouring Myanmar, but there were no reports of casualties or damage to property.

The quake, which caused panic among people, occurred at 0426 hours and had its epicentre at the Indo-Myanmar border, the Meteorological Department said in New Delhi.

A moderate quake, lasting a few seconds, was experienced in Mizoram, H Lallenmawia, Superintending Geologist of the Geology and Mining Department, said in Aizwal.

The earthquake, the second in six days, shook Meghalaya's capital Shillong and its surrounding areas. But there was no loss of life or damage to property.
