Rizvi taken by ED for questioning

ED's counsel Arun Gupte obtained permission of designated judge A P Bhangale to interrogate Rizvi every day till March 22.

Rizvi, producer of Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, is facing charges of alleged nexus with the underworld. Police had intercepted his telephonic talks with Karachi-based gangster Chhota Shakeel.

Police allege that Rizvi's film was financed by Chhota Shakeel, while co-accused Bharat Shah claims to have provided Rs 125 million to make the film.

Rizvi had earlier confessed that Rs 1.5 million was paid on his behalf to Shah who passed it on to Chhota Shakeel in a hawala transaction routed through a Dubai-based businessman.

Later, Rizvi retracted his confession in a letter sent to the registrar of the court from the prison where he is lodged.

The film was released on March nine by the court receiver.

Shah has urged for the certified copies of Rizvi's confession and retraction.

The judge has directed the public prosecutor to provide the copies on March 30, when the accused will be produced in court.

Shah's lawyers Shiraz Rahimtoola and Vibhav Krishna have also filed another application requesting the court for a complete copy of the chargesheet without concealing any portion.

The prosecution has already given the accused a copy of the chargesheet, which eclipses names and addresses of persons and also conceals certain portions revealing the identity of witnesses.

Shah has urged the court to provide him a copy of the application filed by police to obtain authorisation from the competent authority to intercept his telephone talks with Chhota Shakeel.

The court shall pass orders on Shah's applications on Tuesday.

Shah, Rizvi and his assistant Abdul Rahim Allah Baksh will be produced before the court on March 30.
