Nitish Kumar gets additional
charge of Railways

Union Agriculture Minister Nitish Kumar was Tuesday given additional charge of the Railways Ministry, left vacant by the resignation of Trinamul Congress leader Mamata Banerjee.

Kumar, who along with Samata Party Ministers Digivijay Singh and V Sreenivasa Prasad, had withdrawn his resignation and has now resumed work, "may hold charge of Minister of Railways in addition to his current charge", a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said.

Kumar had held the portfolio of Railways before it was given to Banerjee, who pulled out of the government and withdrew support to the coalition last week, demanding the resignation of George Fernandes as defence minister.
