The Justice Venkataswamy Commission, probing the Tehelka expose, is likely to issue notices to the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Research and Analysis Wing to enlist their help in getting to the bottom of the scam relating to defence deals.
"We propose to issue notices to CBI and RAW," Justice K Venkataswami said on Tuesday.
He said the commission had already issued notices to ministries of defence and information and broadcasting as well as other agencies like the Intelligence Bureau.
He said the public response to the notice issued by the commission, requesting all those interested in giving information in this regard to file affidavits, has been up to the expectation.
However, the commission recently extended the time for the public to file their affidavits till May 31. This extension was final and after that the commission would begin hearing on a day to day basis, Justice Venkataswamy said.
Asked whether he would be able to complete his task within the four-month period as specified by the government, he said "It is too premature to comment on that."
However, he added "It is and will be my earnest endeavour to complete the task within the specified time period."
Justice Venkataswami, a retired judge of the Supreme Court, was appointed on March 24 to head the Commission of Inquiry to probe Tehelka expose on payment of commissions to politicians and bureaucrats in defence deals.
