This was made clear during the talks that visiting British Defence Secretary Geoffery Hoon had with National Security Adviser Brajesh Mishra and External Affairs Minister Yashwant Sinha, official sources said.

Army chief General Sundararajan Padmanabhan also called on Hoon on Thursday morning and briefed him on the situation along the border, particularly the three to four recent attempts by terrorists to cross the LoC.

Hoon, who later left for London, told the Indian leaders that Britain attached "great importance" to the need to control infiltration across the LoC and that this was emphasised during his talks in Islamabad with Pakistani leaders.
