PM to meet Putin, Jiang on Tuesday

The meetings would take place on the sidelines of a key 16-nation security summit, which will be attended by Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf who is expected in Almaty on Tuesday.

Indian officials said the prime minister, who would be meeting Afghanistan's leader Hamid Karzai and Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev on Tuesday, would forcefully convey India's concerns over Pakistan-backed terrorism and lack of action on Islamabad's part despite promises by Musharraf on that score.

India and Kazakhstan will also sign agreements on defence cooperation, on ways to combat terrorism and on measures to promote tourism, they said.

The agreement on terrorism would lead to the formation of a joint working group to combat the menace and India expects to extend the treaty to four other Central Asian states, they added.
