Pak to look into India's list of 20: Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has conveyed to India that Pakistan is willing to take a fresh look at the 20 terrorists and criminals India wants extradited, an External Affairs Ministry spokesperson said on Thursday.

Putin told Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Almaty on Wednesday that President Pervez Musharraf would look into the list and consider if anyone in it could be extradited to India, she said.

Vajpayee and Musharraf met Putin separately on Tuesday.

"Let us see what Pakistan is prepared to do on the list which contains 14 persons against whom red corner notices have been issued by Interpol and many of them are Indian citizens," she said.

"I do not see why there should be any hesitation or unwillingness to consider our legitimate request to seek return of citizens of India who have been involved in crimes and actions against the Indian state. Why is Pakistan continuing to harbour them?" she asked.
