Army retracts all instructional staff from border deployment

The Indian army has posted back all instructional staff of major defence institutions, including the College of Combat, Staff College, Infantry and Armoured Schools from current border deployment.

These instructional staff may go back in batches in four to eight weeks time, highly-placed army officials said in New Delhi clarifying that a decision to restart army courses may be taken in due course once the instructional staff was in place.

The officials also said that leave to soldiers and officers deployed on the frontline was still being given only on compassionate grounds with only 12 to 15 per cent per unit.

Within the next two to three weeks, the situation will be reviewed and up to 30 per cent per formation -- the normal peacetime norm -- may be allowed to go on leave.

They said no decision had yet been taken on postings.
