India has not notified lifting overflights ban: Pak

Pakistan's civil aviation authorities have claimed that India has not followed its decision to lift the ban on overflights by Pakistani aircraft with an administrative order.

Islamabad said it has not received anything in writing from the Indian government or the International Civil Aviation Organisation.

Officials of the Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority, told reporters in Karachi that they have not received any formal notification from India even though the Indian government had announced the lifting of the ban on June 9.

The CAA also denied that Pakistan's foreign ministry has not been passing down the 'note' received from India to it.

"It is not a secret document," a CAA official was quoted as saying by the local daily The News.

As per the procedure, a copy of 'note' has to be sent to the ICAO, which in turn would pass it on to member organisations to prepare plans to meet the new situation.

"So far, we have not received any intimation not only from our foreign ministry but also from the ICAO," they claimed.

Pakistan foreign ministry, while acknowledging a formal intimation of confidence building measures initiated by India, has withdrawn its naval fleet from high seas as reciprocal gesture to New Delhi's decision to recall their naval ships back to ports.
