The Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, A K Suri, told rediff.com that evidence on the 'ground' indicates that infiltration from across the Line of Control 'continues as before'
He also said that there has been no let up in the number of terrorist-related incidents either.
"Intelligence inputs available with the Jammu and Kashmir police show that there has been no let up in infiltration. It continues as before right from Line of Control to international border in the state," Suri said.
Asked if he could give the number of infiltrators, who had crossed over into India in last six weeks, he said, "It would be difficult to give you the numbers but one thing that I can tell you is that the export of terror from across the border continues. We have reports that more than 3000 trained terrorists are waiting for the opportune moment to cross over to India. They are in groups of 50-60."
He also said the number of foreign terrorists has almost doubled up in last one year.
He complimented the officers and jawans of Jammu and Kashmir police for fighting terrorism 'in a valiant fashion'.
"We have recently decorated sizeable number of police officers and jawans with gallantry medals. More then one hundred such cases are under consideration in the Union home ministry," he said.
He also praised the people of Jammu and Kashmir in assisting the security forces in their battle against terrorism.
"But for the information coming from the ordinary people of the state we would not have achieved the kind of success we have done in recent months," he explained.
He claimed that the human rights record of the state police has improved ever since he has taken over as the director general.
