Initiating a short-duration discussion in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday's terrorist attack on an army camp at Kaluchak near Jammu, Congress chief whip Pranab Mukherjee, however, advised Union ministers against expressing their personal views, advocating war as the only solution, on the issue.
He told the members that the geo-political situation in South Asia has changed drastically in recent years with both Pakistan and India becoming nuclear powers.
The Congress leader reminded members that the government had extended support to the US-led international coalition in its fight against terrorism on the presumption that it would get support in curbing cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
However, he pointed out, the US government has its own agenda on dealing with international terrorism and is not ready to help India in its fight against Pakistan-backed terrorism.
