Implement UN resolution on terrorism: EU to Pak

European Union Commissioner for External Relations Christopher Patten has asked Pakistan to fulfil its commitment to implement the United Nations resolution against terrorism as well as President Pervez Musharraf's pledge to crack down on militants.

"In the next couple of days, I would be talking about regional issues in every diplomatic and geographical direction. One other thing where I would be drawing attention is the UN Security Council Resolution, 1373, which Pakistan and EU have signed and the relationship with that resolution and the current events," Patten said.

He is in Islamabad for talks with Musharraf to reduce Indo-Pak tensions and is also scheduled to visit New Delhi.

He referred to Musharraf's January 12 speech in which the military ruler banned several militant groups for indulging in terrorist activities and promised to crackdown on them.

Patten said EU was keen that Musharraf kept his promises and crack down hard on the militants.
