Pakistan moves troops from Afghan border

Pakistan government on Thursday confirmed that some contingents of troops deployed along Pakistan-Afghan border have been moved to the Indian border, state-owned Pakistan Television reported.

"We cannot leave our eastern border (with India) unattended so we may have to reconsider how we can adjust. In fact we will have to weaken at the western border," Information Minister Nisar Memon was quoted as saying.

"India has created a situation on our borders, which demands that we should reorganise and redeploy all forces in a ready state," he said.

"The threat of the terrorism on the west... we will have to live with it with little bit reduced forces so that at least the threat of war from India can be contained on our eastern borders and LoC [Line of Control]," he said.
