Two soldiers killed in Pakistani shelling

An army jawan and a Border Security Force soldier were killed and 10 Pakistani bunkers flattened as Indian and Pakistani troops traded heavy artillery and mortar shelling along the Line of Control and international border in Jammu and Kashmir since Thursday night, an official spokesman said on Friday.

BSF jawan Lal Singh was killed and four jawans injured in shelling by Pakistani troops from across the international border at Sangral border outpost in R S Pura sector on Friday afternoon, an official spokesman said.

Pakistani troops also resorted to heavy mortar shelling and artillery fire in Kargil and Drass sectors forcing Indian troops to retaliate, a defence spokesman said, adding one army jawan was killed at a forward post in Pakistani shelling.

A defence ministry release in New Delhi said three Pakistani bunkers were destroyed by Indian artillery fire in Batalik and Drass sectors and in Poonch sector of Jammu region besides damage to a terrorist launch pad opposite Rajouri sector.

In Hiranagar sector, Indian retaliatory fire damaged three bunkers on Pakistani posts and set fire an observation post tower, the release said.
