Pak imposes blackout in PoK capital

Pakistan on Friday night imposed a blackout in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, citing the threat of air strikes by India, CNN has reported.

Authorities told CNN that the city will be under a night time blackout from 2300 hours to 0500 hours.

India has consistently pointed out that the militants infiltrating into Jammu and Kashmir are based and also receive training in PoK.

Some Indian leaders want the Indian army to destroy such bases and the training camps for militants.

Though Union Defence Minister George Fernandes on Friday brushed aside fears of a conflict, several countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, have asked non-essential staff at their mission in India to leave the country.

Several countries have also told their citizens currently in the country to leave and also advised its citizens against travelling to the region.
