Post Graduate Programme in Banking Technology Management (2004-05)

The Institute For Development And Research in Banking Technology announces admissions to its One-year Full-time Post Graduate Programme in Banking Technology Management, PGPBTM. This programme is designed to cater to the growing demand for talented professionals with technology expertise and managerial excellence to drive technology deployment initiatives of the Indian banking and financial services sector.

Focusing on banking technology implementation, integration and management, IDRBT, the Institute says, 'is uniquely endowed with all the necessary resources and linkages to produce all round professionals of the highest caliber.' PGPBTM students 'would get rich inputs and a rewarding learning experience on par with the best business schools in India and abroad. Our previous batch of students have all been successfully placed in the middle management grade in banks, financial institutions and IT companies through campus placement. Since PGPBTM is specifically designed to meet the demands of the banking and financial services sector, meritorious students are assured of placement through campus recruitment.'

Eligibility: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or MCA or any Master's degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects at the preceding degree level, recognized by the Association of Indian Universities/AICTE, obtained on or before June 2004. Those completing their final examinations by June 2004 can also apply. · Should appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT 2003) conducted by IIMs, on November 23, 2003 (last date for securing CAT forms: August 22, 2003) · Candidates should not be more than 30 years of age as on July 1, 2004. · Should separately apply to IDRBT latest by November 29, 2003.

Selection Procedure: IDRBT uses CAT Scores for shortlisting candidates for PGPBTM. IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of PGPBTM. Shortlisted candidates will be called for group discussion and personal interview at IDRBT, Hyderabad, for final selection. Accommodation will be arranged for admitted candidates.

Application Procedure: The prospectus and application form for admission to PGPBTM can be obtained from IDRBT personally or by post by paying the fee of Rs 800 by a Crossed Demand draft drawn in favour of IDRBT, payable at Hyderabad. The request for application and prospectus should contain complete postal address, e-mail ID and/or phone number.

The prospectus and application form can also be downloaded from www.idrbt.ac.in The downloaded application can be duly filled in and submitted along with a Demand Draft for Rs 800.

Post-Graduate Diploma Course in Continuing Education and Management

The University of Mumbai in association with Tata Infotech Ltd has launched a one-year Post-Graduate Diploma Course in Continuing Education and Management.

The diploma course, the first of its kind in the country, combines skills for conducting continuing education courses with management skills and with a through grounding in information technology.

The course aims at preparing professionals who cannot only conduct continuing education courses but who also have the basic skills for handling online courses.

The Post-Graduate Diploma Course in Continuing Education and Management is open to graduates from any discipline and focuses on imparting knowledge through the following papers:

Core Papers:

1. Alternate Learning Systems and Adult Learning Methods.

2. Management of Continuing Education and Continuing Education for Professional Groups.

3. Information Technology for Continuing Education.

Optional Papers:

1. Education as a Service and Entrepreneurship.

2. Continuing Education for Income Generation Programmes.

The curriculum for the course has been prepared with the assistance of Northern Illinois University and national level experts in the field of Continuing Education.

In keeping with the developments in the field of information technology its use has been threaded throughout the course. The paper on Information Technology is exclusively taught by faculty from Tata Infotech Ltd.

Students will have daily computer lab usage for two hours at the University of Mumbai-Tata Infotech Ltd Training Centre as a part of the facility which is being provided for with the course.

The assignments to be carried out by the students are mainly practical in nature.

Faculty for the course is being drawn from India and abroad.

The Diploma is a one-year full time course and the total fees is Rs 14,000.

The Prospectus for the course is available for Rs 100 from the office of the Department from 11 am to 12.30 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm.

At the end of the course assistance will be provided to students for placements in the private sector as well as in the semi-government sector.

Some students of the first batch not only carried out their apprenticeship training with Tata Infotech Ltd but are also likely to be employed on assignments with the company.

Along with the diploma course, the department will also provide an opportunity to the students to simultaneously undertake university recognised modular computer courses which are being conducted on the ground floor of the Vidyapeeth Vidyarthi Bhavan at the University of Mumbai-Tata Infotech Ltd Training Centre.

The students will thus have an additional advantage to undertake such courses in the same premises.

The department proposes to extend the Diploma course to a two-year MA program in Continuing Education and Management so a graduate of the Diploma Program will have the opportunity to continue for another year to acquire a Master's Degree.
