The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court on Thursday stayed till November 4 the decision of the Rae Bareli court to frame charges against six BJP and VHP leaders in connection with the Babri Masjid demolition case.

The bench took the decision on revision petitions filed on Wednesday by Uttar Pradesh BJP chief Vinay Katiyar, Uma Bharati and VHP leaders Ashok Singhal, Vishnu Hari Dalmia, Giriraj Kishore and Sadhvi Rithambara challenging the Rae Bareli court's decision to frame charges against them.

Another accused, HRD Minister Murli Manohar Joshi had got a reprieve last week. Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani has been discharged by the trial court.
