Terming the demolition of the disputed structure at Ayodhya as a 'tragic incident', former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Tuesday expressed the hope that the temple would be built at the Ram Janamsthan disputed site with everyone's cooperation and consultation.
"Nobody had planned to demolish it. There was an expectation that, with everyone's cooperation, a temple should be built at the Ram Janamsthan but developments took place in such a way that the tragic incident happened," he told reporters on the 13th anniversary of the demolition, after attending a function to mark B R Ambedkar's death anniversary.
"Memories remain. There is hope that with everyone's cooperation and consultation, the temple will be built on Ram Janamsthan," Vajpayee said, when asked about the issue.
