Professor's death: BJP activists among 9 to be questioned

The Madhya Pradesh Criminal Investigations Department, probing the death of professor H S Sabharwal during student union polls on August 26, has identified nine persons, including two Bharatiya Janata Party corporators, for recording their statement in the case.

CID will summon these persons among others to record their statement in the case pertaining to professor Sabharwal's death, official sources said.

Those short listed by CID were BJP Corporators Sonu Gehlot and SN Chouhan, BJP leader Sanwar Patel, Bhalu Bhadoria, Hemant Dube, Rizwan Choudhry, Pankaj Mishra, Vishal Rajoria and Sudhir Yadav, the sources said.

On Sunday night as the news spread that the police was searching for these people, BJP workers in large numbers gheraoed the Jiwajiganj and Dewasgate police stations, protesting against the police action against their activists.

Police has been unable to record statement of any of the persons short listed by the CID since Sunday night, the sources added.
