A fire broke out between the 20th and 21st floor of the Taj Hotel's new building in south Mumbai early on Tuesday.
Fire officials said the building, one of the sites of the November 26 terror attacks, was empty when the incident happened.
An official statement from the Taj Hotel said the fire, which started near an unused kitchen of the 20th floor, was detected by the hotel's maintenance staff at 7.15 am today.
It said the cause of the fire could be a short circuit in the kitchen.
Fire tenders put out the fire and the situation was under control by 8.15 am, the statement said, adding that there was no damage to the property and no one was injured during the incident.
