P K Krishna Das, the Kerala Member of Parliament who was trapped at Mumbai's Taj Mahal Hotel, was rescued by the police and NSG commandoes at 9.45 am on Thursday.
"It has been nightmarish 12 hours for me and two other MPs. The whole thing started around 0945 last night. We were about to have dinner at the Shamina restaurant. Suddenly, two gun-wielding men appeared out of nowhere and started shooting indiscriminately. I ducked under a table along with some others. There was panic all around," a nervous MP told rediff.com on phone.
"It was NSG commandoes and police officers from the Azad Nagar police station who rescued us in a dramatic operation. We are grateful to them," he said.
Were there any casualties at that restaurant? "Yes, I saw two foreign nationalists falling down. But I am not sure if they are dead or not. People were running helter-skelter. It all happened in a flash."
The Communist Party of India-Marxist MP said two MPs are still trapped in the hotel.
"Two more MPs -- one from Maharashtra and other from Bihar-- are in their rooms. They are stuck inside, but they are safe," he said.
The whole night, he said, was a hellish experience.
"We were hearing thuds and grenade explosions. The power went off and on. We really did not know what to do. Later, we were shifted to a store. Not a word was uttered there," the MP said.
