Deve Gowda has links with BJP: Congress

The Congress on Monday charged former prime minister H D Deve Gowda with hobnobbing with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

''At Sunday's JD meeting," Congress spokesman V N Gadgil said, "Deve Gowda alleged that the Congress was destroying the Janata Dal, but did not utter even a single word against the BJP.''

Gadgil said Deve Gowda, who is the United Front steering committee chairman, had links with the BJP. The former PM, Gadgil alleged, had addressed a rally of the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh as Karnataka chief minister, where he praised its leaders.

Asked if his party would withdraw its support to the UF government in protest against Deve Gowda's anti-Congress remarks, Gadgil said, ''Our support will continue, but it is for the Left to take note of his friendship with the BJP.''
