Ramalinga Raju may get life imprisonment

Satyam's founder chairman B Ramalinga Raju, who was on Tuesday chargesheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation in the accounting fraud case involving thousands of crores of rupees, may face life imprisonment if convicted under Section 467 of the IPC.

The CBI has chargesheeted Raju under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 467, which carries a penalty of life imprisonment. This section deals with forgery of valuable security or will.

It states that whoever forges a document which purports to be a valuable security or will or which purports to give authority to any person to make or transfer any valuable security, or to receive the principal, interest or dividends among others shall be punished with imprisonment for life.
