Azim Premji earns Rs 4.64 billion as dividend

Wipro Chairman Azim Premji is set to take home Rs 464 crore (Rs 4.64 billion) in dividend payment for 2008-09.

The board of Wipro on Wednesday recommended a dividend of Rs 4 per share.

Premji holds a little over 1.1 billion shares (80 per cent of the total), fetching the chairman around Rs 464 crore (Rs 4.64 billion) as dividend.

He promotes rural education through his support to the Azim Premji Foundation and also manages a private equity fund -- Premji Invests.
