Kerala govt nods guidelines for starting IT parks

The Kerala government on Wednesday approved the guidelines for starting IT parks in private sector in the state.

The guidelines, in tune with the state IT policy, was approved by the Cabinet, chief minister V S Achuthanandan told reporters.

A minimum of 30,000 sq feet land was necessary for starting an IT park and 70 per cent of the land available must be used for IT-related purposes were some of the main guidelines, Achuthanandan said.

The Cabinet also decided to celebrate the third anniversary of the LDF government by launching welfare and development works, he said.

The Rs 2 per rice scheme for BPL families would be inaugurated as part of the celebrations at a function here on May 18.

The scheme would come into force in other districts on May 19, Achuthanandan added.
