Jet to start 45 more budget flights

Continuing its focus on low cost model of operations, private carrier Jet Airways [ Get Quote ] will shift 45 flights to its no-frills service brand Jet Airways Konnect by October.

Jet Airways Konnect will launch new flights all through September uptil October 1 to enhance its connectivity from metros like Mumbai [ Images ], Delhi [ Images ], Chennai, Bengaluru [ Images ] and Kolkata [ Images ] to several smaller cities.

It currently operates 135 flights per day with nine Boeing and 11 ATR aircraft. The number of flights will go up to 180 per day by October 1 with the addition of six more Boeing 737 jets.

"Jet Airways Konnect has proven to be very popular with travellers across India. With strong demand for Konnect services, we are confident that the new flights will be well-appreciated," Jet Airways CEO Wolfgang Prock-Schauer said in a statement.

As part of its network enhancement exercise, Jet Airways Konnect will start Kolkata-Guwahati flights from September 3 and Delhi-Chennai from September 15. On October 1, it will commence Delhi-Kolkata services.
