Nitish KumarAfter former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, it is the turn of another prominent Bihar politician to take centre stage at a university meet abroad and the person in question is none other than Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Kumar has been invited to participate in the Growth Week 2009 programme at the prestigious London School of Economics in London from September 22, 2009, official sources said.

It is, however, not known whether Kumar will accept the invitation.

Former railway minister and betenoire Lalu Prasad had addressed management students of Harvard and Wharton in the United States and had also visited Singapore and Malaysia to deliver lectures on Indian Railways' turnaround.

When contacted, Kumar said he was busy with the drought situation in the state and would try to take a decision on going to London in a day or two.

Kumar  had to face Opposition ire during his Mauritius trip at a time when floods had affected vast countryside areas in Bihar last year.

The invitation requests Kumar to join the 'eminent range of panelists and academia' for five 'research into policy' sessions at the Growth Week programme.

Kumar has also been requested to participate in the research and policy session on developing rural areas, to be chaired by Stefan Dercon, professor of Economics.
