Investors got richer by Rs 1.07 lakh cr

The total investor wealth on the Bombay Stock Exchange rose by over Rs 1.07 lakh crore on Monday as positive cues from global markets led the rally in today's market, which surged over 2.55 per cent.

The total investor wealth on BSE, measured in terms of combined market capitalisation of all listed companies, rose by Rs 1,07,137.92 crore to Rs 51,83,576.91 crore.

The total market cap of all BSE listed companies stood at Rs 50,76,438.99 crore (Rs 50.76 trillion) on Friday last.

The markets remained strong throughout the day on optimistic comments by the US Federal Reserve chief on Friday last and strong Asian and European cues. The BSE barometer index closed with a gain of 387.92 points or 2.55 per cent, the best single day gain in nearly three weeks. The Sensex closed higher at 15,628.75.

The combined market capitalisation of Sensex firms rose to Rs 23,66,140.66 crore (Rs 23.66 trillion), up Rs 50,430.05 crore (Rs 504.30 billion) over last closing.

The aggregate valuation of the 30-bluechip stocks was at Rs 23,15,710.61 (Rs 23.15 trillion) crore at the end of trade on Friday last.

At the end of trade today, the market capitalisation of country's most valued firm Reliance Industries stood at Rs 3,10,721.17 crore (Rs 3.10 trillion).

In terms of market capitalisation, RIL is followed by state-run ONGC (Rs 2,55,670.13 crore), NTPC (Rs 1,70,598.66 crore) and Bharti Airtel (Rs 1,57,170.29 crore).
