Sony Ericsson launches 'green' Elm

December 31, 2009 08:20 IST

Mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson on Wednesday announced the launch of Elm and accessory Bluetooth noise shield hands-free VH700, adding to the company's green products portfolio.

The mobile phone and accessory provides consumers with an expanded range of products to make an educated green environment without compromising on design and functionality, the company said in a press release.

Sony Ericsson also announced that the company would make all accessories green compliant by 2011.

The Elm can block background noise with the help of a noise shield, clear voice and volume adaptation.

"Keeping in line with the Communication Entertainment proposition, the phone offers an easy-to-use social networking experience featuring the Widget Manager application, which allows users access their social networking page," said Sony Ericsson vice president-marketing (Asia-Pacific) Peter Ang.

The company claimed that Elm and VH700 would benefit the environment and help reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The phone comes with recycled plastics, free from chemicals, a low power consumption charger and minimised packaging, the release said.
