Janata Khana: Railways to offer national, regional food

Presenting the Railway Budget for 2009-10 in the Lok Sabha on Friday, railway minister Mamata Banerjee [ Images ] said that national and regional cuisines would be introduced in the catering by the Railways.

All the Indian Railways' zones have been instructed to ensure availability of Janata Khana.

All zones have also been asked to ensure availability of good food, drinking water and toilet facilities. They have been directed to ensure cleanliness on all trains and stations.

A comprehensive policy, including strict monitoring mechanisms, would be developed soon for achieving these objectives, Banerjee said. - PIB
