Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee [ Images ] has proposed to substantially enhance the allocation for the Commonwealth Games [ Images ] 2010 from Rs 2,112 crore (Rs 21.12 billion) in the Interim Budget to Rs. 3,472 crore (Rs 34.72 billion).

While presenting the Union Budget for the year 2009-10 in Lok Sabha today, Mukherjee said the Commonwealth Games present the country with an opportunity to showcase our potential as an emerging Asian Power.
