Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee [ Images ], while presenting the Union Budget in Parliament on Monday, announced that it is proposed to add one handloom mega cluster each in West Bengal [ Images ] and Tamil Nadu and one powerloom mega cluster in Rajasthan [ Images ].

He said that this would help preserve the magnificent textile tradition in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu and generate thousands of jobs in Rajasthan.

He said that, in addition, he proposes to add new mega clusters for carpets in Srinagar [ Images ] (J&K) and Mirzapur (UP).
