The National Investigation Agency, set up in the aftermath of Mumbai terror strikes last year, has been allocated Rs 15 crore (Rs 150 million) in the General Budget for 2009-10.

The NIA, which came into existence in February this year with the appointment of Radha Vinod Raju as its first director general, has to accomplish important tasks in next 100 days under the Union Home Ministry's Action Plan-II announced by P Chidambaram recently.

The budget, presented by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, pegged Rs 15 crore for NIA to meet establishment related expenditure.

The NIA has been asked to fill up all posts and finalise issues like declaring NIA as a police station and setting up of special courts.

An additional 94 posts created for NIA have to be filled by September 30 this year and prior to that the agency has to complete formulation of recruitment rules in consultation with Department of Personnel and Training and Legislative department.
