New plan panel: R S Paroda, Arun Maira in, Kirit Parikh out

Agriculture scientist and former Indian Council of Agricultural Research director-general R S Paroda and Boston Consulting Group senior advisor Arun Maira are likely to be made members of the Planning Commission, which will be reconstituted shortly.

Besides, Paroda and Maira, honorary vice-chancellor of Pune University Narendra Jadhav may join the Planning Commission, sources said, adding deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia is expected to be retained as deputy chief of the panel.

Among the members who are likely to be retained in the reconstituted body include Abhijit Sen, Syeda Hameed and B K Chaturvedi.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to reconstitute the Commission shortly.

The members of the outgoing Commission who may not be retained include Kirit Parikh, V L Chopra, B Mungekar, B N Yugandhar and Anwarul Hoda.

Planning Commission deputy chairman Ahluwalia and all other members of the earlier panel had submitted their resignations to the prime minister on completion of the term of the last government.
